My high school Global teacher once shared that during his job interview he mentioned a quote from Spiderman: “With great power comes great responsibility.” His reasoning for this was simple and stuck with me during my journey to becoming a teacher: being a teacher presents a powerful opportunity to effect change, and you must take responsibility for what you teach to your students in lessons and in life. I hope that my reflections stick with me and inform my future teaching practices and philosophies.
